The Edfu Kom Ombo Tour from Luxor is for travellers who are not taking a Nile cruise but still want to see the great temples between Luxor and Aswan.
Your private car follows the Nile south for about two hours to Edfu. The Temple of Horus, built under the Ptolemies, is the best preserved temple in Egypt, complete with its roof, pylon and sanctuary. Its walls tell the story of the battle between Horus and Seth.
After lunch you continue south to Kom Ombo, a rare double temple shared by two gods, the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Haroeris, with two entrances and two sanctuaries side by side. Next to it, the Crocodile Museum displays mummified crocodiles found nearby. On the way back to Luxor, you can stop at the Temple of Esna if time allows.
Edfu & Kom Ombo from Luxor
Leave Luxor in the morning with your Egyptologist and drive south to Edfu to explore the Temple of Horus, from its great pylon to its dark sanctuary. After lunch, continue to Kom Ombo to visit the double temple of Sobek and Haroeris and the Crocodile Museum beside it. Drive back north along the Nile, with an optional stop at the Temple of Esna, and arrive at your hotel in Luxor in the evening.

How far is Edfu from Luxor?
About 110 kilometres, or two hours by car. Kom Ombo is another hour further south.
Do I need the Edfu Kom Ombo Tour from Luxor if I take a Nile cruise?
No. Most Nile cruises between Luxor and Aswan already stop at Edfu and Kom Ombo.
Can we end the day in Aswan instead?
Yes. We can continue to Aswan after Kom Ombo and transfer your luggage, turning the tour into a scenic transfer.
