Africa's greatest ancient story, a short flight north: private Egyptologist-led journeys through Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Nile.
For travellers in Johannesburg and Cape Town, Egypt is the continent's other great journey: the Pyramids, the temples of Luxor and the Nile, all reachable without crossing an ocean. Egypt tours from South Africa are among the easiest long-haul trips you can make.
Egypt sits in almost the same time zone as South Africa, so there is little or no jet lag. You arrive rested and ready to explore, and you do not lose a day of your trip to recovery.
Every journey below is private. You travel with your own Egyptologist, stay in five-star hotels and cruise the Nile in comfort. Hamdy Haggag plans each itinerary personally and replies to messages himself.

Flights from Johannesburg to Cairo take roughly 8 to 10 hours, either direct on some days or with one stop. From Cape Town you will usually connect through Johannesburg or another African hub. Services change by season, so check current schedules.
Because the time difference is so small, you can land in the afternoon and still enjoy dinner on the Nile that evening. We arrange the meet-and-assist and private transfer.
October to April is the best season, with warm, dry days. That fits the South African summer holidays well: December and January in Egypt are cool and comfortable, and the Christmas period is a popular time to travel.
The June and July school holidays fall in Egypt's hottest months. If those are your dates, we plan early starts, restful middays and a Nile cruise so the heat is never a problem.
Easter and the long weekends around Heritage Day are also good times for a shorter trip of seven to eight days.
Most visitors need a visa for Egypt, and the rules and fees change. Check the current requirements for your South African passport on visa2egypt.gov.eg before you travel.
Health requirements can depend on the countries you transit through, so confirm them with your doctor or travel clinic. Prices are quoted in US dollars, and we handle hotels, transfers, internal flights and entrance fees.
Many South Africans see Egypt as the missing piece of an African bucket list. It pairs well with a few days in Jordan, or with a Red Sea finish after the Nile.
If you have a long weekend, a short Cairo and Luxor trip works. With ten to twelve days you can add a full Nile cruise and Abu Simbel.
