The Luxor Day Trip from Cairo is for travellers short on time who still want to stand in ancient Thebes.
An early domestic flight brings you to Luxor in about an hour, where your Egyptologist is waiting. You cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, entering three royal tombs carved deep into the hills, then visit the terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and stop at the Colossi of Memnon.
After lunch overlooking the Nile, you return to the East Bank for Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex of ancient Egypt, with its forest of 134 columns in the Great Hypostyle Hall. In the evening you fly back to Cairo. It is a long day, carefully timed so that every hour on the ground is spent well.
