The Philae Temple Sound and Light Show is one of the most atmospheric evenings in Egypt, on an island reached only by boat.
As darkness falls, a motorboat carries you across the water to Agilkia Island. The show begins as you walk through the temple courts, each part lit in turn while the narration tells the story of Isis, Osiris and their son Horus, and of the island's long life as the last place where the old gods were worshipped.
The second part is seated, facing the illuminated temple and its reflection on the water. Show languages rotate through the week, so we book the English performance for your date. A private driver takes you to the landing and back, and an assistant stays with you throughout the evening.
Evening Sound and Light at Philae
Your driver collects you from your hotel in the early evening and takes you to the Shellal landing. Cross by motorboat to Agilkia Island and walk through the illuminated Temple of Philae as the story of Isis and Osiris is told. Take your seat for the final part, facing the lit temple and its reflection on the water. Return by boat to the landing, where your driver takes you back to your hotel.

No. Languages rotate during the week, so we book the English show on a date that fits your stay.
Do we need to visit Philae during the day too?
It is best to see it both ways. The day visit explains the temple, and the night show gives the atmosphere.
How long is the show?
About an hour, or three hours including the boat ride and transfers.
